We are always eager to have conversations with conservation minded business owners and land owners who are either looking to participate in the certified international carbon offset markets or need strategic and guided support with their eco-tourism business. If you feel that you fit into the criteria below, please reach out directly to info@chaiiinvestments.com.
Criteria for Bio Diversity Credit Projects
Ownership/Use of Land
We have found that if the underlying land has additional use rather than just conservation it is more likely to be protected. A few examples of this would be:
- Lands owned in collaboration with existing eco-tourism properties
- Large family land holdings that utilize a smaller portion of the overall land for some other use (residence, vacation, investment, etc)
- Existing, or bordering, conservation designated areas focused on educational outreach or scientific study
Intention
We only work with land owners that have a clear path towards protection of lands in perpetuity. This is either through a verified business incentive (i.e. existing eco-lodge, eco tourism activity dependent on these lands) or a strategic path towards legal permanent protection (through tax incentives, conservation trusts, or outright gifting.)
Size
We have found that certifying projects less than 100 acres does not make economic sense for the landowner, project sponsor, and the developer.
Land Type
We find that biodiverse properties in unique areas of the world generally make sense for biodiversity projects. A few examples of these lands:
- Headwaters
- Existing wetlands
- Primary Forest, Rain Forest, Jungle
- Confirmed existing habitat for endangered species
- Connective of biological corridors
